A Bright Light on Michaela Anne

We came across guitarist and songwriter Michaela Anne playing live a couple of years ago and have been listening to her CDs every since. She’s been playing our guitar strings, too! Her most recent album, Bright Lights and the Fame, couples a familiar forlorn country sound with her own songwriting wit and sass. She’s been written up by The New York Times, Rolling Stones Country and NPR, and believe us, she’s just getting started. Welcome to the Straight Up Strings family, Michaela Anne!

“My favorite thing about Straight Up Strings is how clean and bright their strings feel without being too crisp or tin sounding. I play smaller bodied guitars so I’m always looking to add warmth and volume and their strings do just that.” Michaela Anne

Kaia Kater – Our newest artist endorser!

We’ve long admired Kaia’s discipline in study and execution of heartfelt banjo playing and songwriting. So it’s an understatement to say we’re happy to have her joining the Straight Up Strings family! On a trajectory predicted by just about everyone who’s seen her perform, Kaia’ recent album, Nine Pin, is nominated for Folk Alliance’s Album of the Year, and she’s also made lists at No Depression and NPR’s Heavy Rotation.

“Straight Up Strings’ high-quality banjo heavies and mediums provide my old-time clawhammer sound with a very clear tone, while also being durable. Playing them is a breeze!” Kaia Kater

Jeff Scroggins on Banjo, Everybody!

We’re pleased to welcome and highlight another banjo icon, Jeff Scroggins, of Jeff Scroggins & Colorado, and announce that he’s playing Straight Up Strings for Banjo. Jeff is widely known in bluegrass circles for his lightening-fast licks and style. He’s been playing our strings for a while now, along with his mandolinist son, Tristan, also an endorsing artist, and now it’s official! This band is one to follow, for sure…and we’re not the only ones that think so. Welcome, Jeff!

“Straight Up Strings play with such great clarity and have a wonderfully unique tone; the first time I tried them the difference was stunning!”
